PROJECT OUTLINE
Redleaf Environmental was engaged by ViridIFC to prepare a Heritage Impact Statement for the temporary installation of site offices and facilities in the Brisbane Botanic Gardens as part of the Kangaroo Point Green Bridge Project. The proposed works included site compound sheds, minimal ground disturbance for services, and close consideration of heritage and conservation values, all coordinated in consultation with Brisbane City Council Parks Department.
KEY TASKS
- Assessment of impacts on State Heritage-listed Brisbane Botanic Gardens (QHR 600067) including significance under multiple Queensland Heritage Register criteria
- Detailed review of relevant Conservation Plan and Archaeological Management Plan policies and requirements
- Visual impact and viewshed analysis to avoid obstructing key heritage vistas and character features
- Development of mitigation protocols: minimising ground disturbance, safeguarding trees and plantings, and maintaining historic fabric
- Coordination with arborists for tree protection measures, including fencing and supervision during compound establishment
- Documentation and mapping of site compound location, service routes, and protection zones
- Heritage recommendations for alignment, site selection, and compliance throughout installation and restoration phases
